Critiques,
Mentoring Sessions and Programs
Rhonda Schaller Studio offers critiques,
mentoring sessions and programs to emerging and re-emerging
artists. We will tailor sessions to each artist’s particular
needs, to where they are in the art and life cycle. One meeting
might do it, or a series or program may be set up based on
what you require.
Critiques.
An honest look at your artwork with the gallery director.
In person or via email.
Tips on juried shows.
Presenting your work in the right format, deciding on the
right number of images to submit, writing an artist statement
and presenting your career history in a positive light.
Perhaps you wonder about the following.
How does an artist get a show? Get a catalogue? Advance their
career? Sell their work? How do you enter or re-enter the
art world in a viable way?
Can you self-promote and be successful? Do I need an art dealer?
Do I have to pay to show? What do I do now?
Mentoring is an important part of our philosophy,
of our reason for being.
We can arrange mentoring sessions where you meet with our
Gallery director, a seasoned and successful fulltime artist,
or optionally with other professional artists from our curatorial
staff. In all cases you will be meeting with a knowledgeable
and experienced artist with a successful career of their own,
willing to meet and share with you on the phone or in their
own studios.
Bring questions, float ideas, gain confidence, receive guidance.
We also offer mentoring for professional artists looking to
enhance their exhibition visibility, for re-emerging artists
looking for guidance on the “how to”, the “what
now”, the “where can I show next” questions
that relate to creating, re-creating and sustaining a viable
art career.
In sum, here are many of the topics we’ll cover in any
mentoring program:
Juried shows, university collections, commercial galleries,
publications, regional exposure, grants, hanging and lighting
a show, marketing skills and publicity, sales, name recognition,
building a collector base, re-entering the art marketplace,
reinventing yourself and your career, and where can I show.
Our mentoring approach is designed especially for artists
interested in learning how to navigate the art world in a
different way.
You are never too young or too old, too early or too late
to express your authentic creativity and market yourself with
integrity, discipline, and skill. We are not interested in
the next big thing.
We are interested in authenticity – the authentic, passionate,
soulful expressions of life – and helping artists find
their center within the gallery world.
One on one sessions, 30 - 45 minutes, with the Gallery Director
are $95 each, or with curatorial staff – $75. Email
us with questions at info@rhondaschallerchelsea.com,
or give us a call at 212-967-1338.
