Artist Statement
I am fascinated with all the visual information
around me. My paintings represent metaphorical interpretations
of different environments I see and inhabit, from an interest
mainly with the use of technology, especially in the visual
world, such as is used in architecture, creative media such
as music, graphics and animation, cinema, computer games,
to technological systems such as the internet, and many other
forms all inter-mapping to create further more complex systems
which continue to challenge and evolve our senses.
My paintings are based around the use of
color, volume, light and space within an architectural context,
creating structures and hybrids of structures through dispersal,
fusion, collisions and juxtapositions to extend the visual
dynamics to create vast, endless areas of space and forms.
I am greatly inspired by architectural theory and practice,
especially the Deconstructivist theories of architects such
as Peter Eisenman, Bernard Tschumi, Zaha Hadid, Daniel Libeskind
and many others. Also the Russian Constructivists and the
Italian Futurists, who like me were fascinated by the future,
my paintings represent a continuing journey into imagining
new visual systems and environments.
